After playing to a 1-1 tie in the first period, Belle River’s offense clicked in the second, as the Canadiens scored 7 unanswered goals, sending the Lakers to the third period trailing 8-1.
Ryan Gruszka and Frankie White opened the scoring in the third period for Wallaceburg, giving the home team a glimmer of hope, before former Dresden Kings sniper, and Tupperville product James Shelton potted his first of the night for Belle River, kicking off another four goal spree.
Through five winless games, Wallaceburg goalies have faced an average of nearly 50 shots per night, and Wednesday was no different, as Wes Hughson and Noble Jacobs split a barrage of 56 shots against.
Wallaceburg’s task of finding the win column doesn’t get easier next week, as the Lakers next game is against the top ranked Essex 73s Tuesday, October 1 on the road. The following night, Wallaceburg hosts Mooretown.
