The Blenheim Blast had splashing success at the Chatham Pool Sharks Invitational last Sunday October 27 swimming away with 29 podium finishes. Brendan Van Herk swam away with four first place finishes in the 14 year old boys’, remarkably breaking the one minute barrier on his 100M Free in a time of 59.19. seconds. Brendan’s other firsts came in the 100M Fly (1:05.58), 100M Back (1:05.94) and the 100M Breast (1:15.22). Rain Pfaff also swept four first place finishes in the 14 year old girls’ 200M Fly (3:03.61)100M Breast (1:24.72) , 50MFree (30.01) and 100M Back (1:13.61). 16 year old River Pfaff also swam away with four first in the 16 & over age group, winning the 100M Free (1:01.83), 100M Breast (1:15.54), 50MFree (27.19), 100M Back (1:11.73). River was also second in the 100M Fly in a time of 1:09.95s. Shania Van Herk was first in both the 16 & over girls’ 100M Free (1:05.37) and 100M Back (1:12.59). Shania was second in the 100M Breast (1:29.71) and 100M Fly (1:12.59). Riley Johnson was second in the 16 & over 200M Back, third in the 100M Free and had two fourth place finishes in the 100M Back and Fly.

12 year old Grace Van Herk was first in the 200M Free( 2:38.95) and second in the her other four events, the 50M Free (32.35), 100M Free (1:13.80), 100M Fly (1:24.28) and 200M I.M. ( 3:00.64 ). Emma Pegg had two third place finishes in the 10 & under girls’ 100M Breast (1:49.78) and 400M Free (6:50.60) and also placed fifth in the 100M Back, sixth in the 100M Free and ninth in the 200M I.M. 10 year old Holly Reynolds was first in the 10 & under 200M Breast (3:33.21) and had four other top ten finishes with sixth place finishes in both the 200M Free and 100M Breast, and ninth place finishes in the 100M Free and 50M free.

13 year old Ryan Scott placed second in the boys’ 100M Back in a time of 1:52.43, fourth in the 100M Breast (2:19.18) and was sixth in both the 50M and 100M Free events. In the 13 year old girls’ category, Delainey Johnson had two fourth place finishes in the 100M Back (1:28.24) and 200M Breast (3:45.92) events. Delainey had three other top ten finishes, placing sixth in the 200 I.M., seventh in the 100M Breast, and ninth in the 50M Free. Team made Jill Clendenning capture fifth place in both the 50M Free (34.07) and 100M Breast (1:39.93) and was seventh in the 100M Free.

9 year old Gracin Black had three top ten finishes in the 10 & under boys’ events, placing second in the 200M Breast in a time of 4:32.36. Gracin was fifth in the 100M Breast and finished tenth in the 50m Free. Georgia Blackshaw, 9 finished eighth in the 10& under girls 100M Breast in a time of 2:1`7.26.
