Lancers, Tartans Teams To Beat

WDSS-Football-HelmetWhen it comes to the Kent Senior Football league this season, it’s clear that the UCC Lancers and Wallaceburg Tartans are in a class of their own.

Facing the last place CKSS Golden Hawks, UCC Lancers star Anthony Cunha rumbled through the CKSS denfense for more than 250 yards, and 3 touchdowns in their 23-9 win. His touchdowns were all long yardage runs, scoring from 50, 61, and 72 yards out.

CKSS quarterback Jake Lindley scored his team’s lone touchdown, while kicker Trevor Niven connected on a 33-yard field goal for the Golden Hawks.

The Wallaceburg Tartans stayed undefeated, beating the John McGregor Panthers 43-26. Kevin Kellet paced the Tartans, catching 2 touchdown passes, and running back a long interception for a touchdown in the final minute of the game for Wallaceburg.

Brayden Fischer, who threw Kellet’s TD passes, also ran for a touchdown of his own, as did Jack Cavanagh and Simon Yazbeck.

On the JMSS side, Jake Anderson caught two touchdown passes and D`Wan Mailloux caught one from quarterback Kelton Evans. Anderson had the other Panthers scoring play on another catch.

Next Thursday, UCC hosts JMSS, while CKSS hosts Wallaceburg.
