Mackinnon, Seys Qualify For OFSAA

Two local golfers, Chatham-Kent Secondary School’s Brooke Mackinnon, and Ursuline College’s Brendan Seys have qualified for OFSAA golf.

Playing at Kingsville Golf and Country Club Monday, Mackinnon of Chatham, and Seys of Port Lambton both finished in the top seven at SWOSSAA, securing their position for OFSAA.

Seys shot an even par 72, tying him for the tournament lead, but was eliminated on the first playoff hole as Windsor’s Brandon Mihalo took the eventual crown.

In the girls final, Mackinnon, who won the Kent championship as a grade 9, finished seventh after shooting an 87.

OFSAA for Seys will take place close to home, October 16-17 at Essex Golf and Country Club, while Mackinnon will have some travel to plan for, as the girls OFSAA golf championships run October 17 at Shanty Bay Golf Club, located just North of Barrie, Ontario.
