Maroons Fall To First Place Vipers
After a convincing 5-0 win Saturday against the Lambton Shores Predators, the Chatham Maroons couldn’t keep their momentum going Sunday against the first place LaSalle Vipers.
Chatham opened the game with a lead, after assistant captain Trevor Richardson scored in the first period. Connor Annett and Eric Palazzolo assisted on the play, and Chatham carried the lead into intermission.
In the second period however, LaSalle didn’t wait long to strike back, as Brendan McCann knotted the score at 1-1. Midway through the period, Connor MacKinnon gave Chatham the lead again, scoring a powerplay marker from Annett and Brayden Hopkins, but it would be the final tally for the Maroons.
Dylan Denomme would score twice, and Rio Anzolin would pick up another for the LaSalle Vipers as they edged the Maroons 4-2. The win improves the Vipers, who are coached by former Maroons bench boss Bill Bowler, to a 14-0-1 record, while Chatham drops to 6-6-2.
The Maroons travel to Sarnia on Thursday, before hosting the Leamington Flyers on Sunday at Memorial Arena.
