One year ago, the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks were the Province’s best ‘AAA’ boys volleyball team, winning the OFSAA Senior boys gold.

Over the weekend in London, Ontario, the Golden Hawks did something few schools can do, repeating as the OFSAA champions, winning gold in a thrilling final match over Oakridge Secondary School.

CKSS took set one over Oakridge, 25-20, before Oakridge came back in set two winning 25-23. Not to be outdone however, the Golden Hawks came back and took set three 25-23. After Oakridge won the fourth set 25-21, a final, deciding fifth set was required to decide the Ontario champion.

With points going back and forth, Chatham-Kent Secondary School battled out a tight 15-13 victory.

CKSS did not lose a match in the tournament, going 4-0 in pool play, not dropping a single set until the final. CKSS defeated Jacob Hespeler in the quarterfinal, and Lisgar in the semi-final, before beating Oakridge for their second straight gold.
