Shedden To Lead Canada Again
Wallaceburg’s Doug Shedden has been named the head coach of Canada’s entry to the 2013 Spengler Cup in Switzerland.
Shedden, 52, is returning after winning a championship at the Spengler Cup last winter as Canada’s head coach. Shedden was also an assistant coach in 2009 and 2010 with Canada at the Spengler Cup.
“We are extremely pleased with the coaching and management staffs that we have assembled to lead Team Canada at the Spengler Cup this year,” said Brad Pascall, Hockey Canada’s vice-president of hockey operations/national teams in a Hockey Canada news release. “Doug brings great international experience as the head coach and has helped guide Canada internationally on many occasions.”
Currently, Shedden is currently the head coach of EV Zug in the Swiss National League A, and has coach in Finland, and several North American minor professional leagues. He is also a veteran of more than 400 NHL games as a player.
The Spengler Cup takes place from December 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland.
