Think Pink Beyond October
The Dresden Kings put on a show Friday against the Essex 73s, losing in a shootout, but winning where it counted, raising approximately $1500 for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s cancer unit.
The Chatham Maroons held their own Pink in the Rink event Saturday as they hosted the Leamington Flyers. The Maroons welcomed the CK Breast Buddies to the ice, wore pink jerseys, and raised $3000 in funds for local charities. Chatham beat the Leamington Flyers 3-2 in the game, and had a crowd of nearly 800 on hand for the festivities.
According to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, 24,000 Canadians will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013.
Although October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, local charities and organizations are looking for support throughout the year. For more information, feel free to visit the following links.
