VanEvery Helps Chiefs Extend Streak To Five

ChiefsThe Ridgetown-Blenheim Chiefs extended their Shamrock League winning streak to five games over the weekend, with a Sunday evening win.

The high flying Chiefs pounded St. Marys 9-4 Sunday night.

Former Blenheim Blades forward Matt Fleury opened the scoring for the Chiefs early on, but it was Ridgetown native Derek VanEvery who stole the show.

VanEvery, who played 33 games for the Dresden Kings last year, had a hat trick for the Chiefs, taking his game to a higher level. Assisting on VanEvery’s goals were Devin Tedford, Robert Towsley and Matt Clark.

Matt Clark also scored two goals of his own with the assist going to Robert Towsley and Brandon Falconer. Towsley is another Junior hockey veteran, playing two seasons with the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Kurt Beecroft of Highgate, who also spent time with the Blenheim Blades last season, scored a jaw dropping goal as he weaved his way in and out and around every player on St. Marys and then completely deeked out the goalie and put the puck in the empty net.

Drew Swiss also scored with Devin Tedford and Brandon Wegrzyn getting the assists.

Tedford finished off the scoring with Derek VanEvery getting the assist.

The Ridgetown-Blenheim Chiefs next home game is November 23 at 8pm against Belmont.
