Maroons Named To All-Star Game
The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League announced their All-Star and Top Prospects rosters for the 2013-2014 gmaes to be held Sunday, December 29 at the Vale Centre in Port Colborne, Ontario.
Chatham Maroons players Tanner Ferguson, Adam Arseneault, Michael Verboom, and Kyle Brothers will suit up for Team Ludzik against Team Vaive in the 1:30pm All-Star game. The All-Stars are selected as the best 19 and 20-year old players in the GOJHL.
Brothers is the leading scorer in Ontario, and is joined on the team with fellow newcomers from the Lambton Shores Predators, Arseneault and Ferguson. Verboom, the Maroons’ captain also sits in the top 15 in provincial scoring, and is third in the GOJHL’s Western Conference.
Brayden Hopkins and Hayden Verbeek will follow up their veteran counterparts playing in the Top Prospects game at 5:00pm that day. As well, Muirkirk’s Steven Beenackers, a former Chatham Maroon who is now playing for the Lambton Shores Predators, will suit up in the Top Prospects game. Beenackers is the Predators’ leading scorer this season.
