Chatham’s Brad Hockin has decided his destination for next year, as the volleyball player has committed to the Western University Mustangs Men’s Volleyball program.

Hockin, a Chatham-Kent Secondary School student, has been an integral part of the CKSS Golden Hawks volleyball program over his high school career, helping the Golden Hawks to two consecutive Senior Boys OFSAA ‘AAA’ gold medals.

“Brad is a consistent and diligent worker,” says Colin Roeszler, who trains Hockin at Athletes’ Fuel Strength & Conditioning, and has served as a coach at CKSS in recent years. “I am fortunate to train him in his journey to the university ranks. Brad is more than just a volleyball player, he is an all-around athlete; one of our more explosive athletes. He can jump through the roof, and his lower body strength is progressively improving. I know he will succeed at the next level.”

Hockin showed off for Western recruiters in London earlier this year, taking home tournament MVP honours, while helping CKSS win the Fanshawe College tournament title.

Last year’s Robert Bye award winner for CKSS as a top student-athlete, Hockin will join a strong Western University Mustangs team, as the Mustangs currently sit among the top teams in the OUA. Hockin is slated to attend Western next year.
