Brothers Setting League On Fire
Brothers has scored an incredible 29 points in his last 6 games with the GOJHL’s Chatham Maroons, solidifying his provincial scoring lead, and helping the Maroons to a season best 13 game winning streak.
“I wouldn’t really say there’s been any specific thing over the last 6 games,” says Brothers about his production. “It’s just that our line is starting to develop a lot of chemistry and we’re playing really good right now.”
In that six game span, including two powerplay goals, culminated with the winner in the final minute last weekend against London, Brothers has scored 18 goals, and barring injury, is on pace to eclipse 100 points this season.
At one point this season, the Maroons sat in sixth in the GOJHL’s Western Conference. Now, the Maroons are only four points out of first place following their 13 game winning streak, which they’ll try to extend this weekend, playing three games, Friday against St. Thomas, Saturday against LaSalle, and Sunday against Lambton Shores.
“Everybody’s really starting to gel on and off the ice,” said Brothers about the team’s climb to the league’s elite. “We have a great group of guys and we’re having a lot of fun winning.”
Although offense has been a key for the Maroons, Brothers also pointed to the acquisition of December GOJHL Western Conference Goaltender of the Month, Jacob Keogh.
“The pick up of our new goalie Jacob Keogh has been a big help as well,” says Brothers.
In total this season through 34 games, Kyle Brothers leads the GOJHL with 42 goals and 46 assists, for 88 points.
