Five Questions With Michael Verboom
Michael Verboom, is a 19-year-old hockey player from Iona Station, Ontario. Verboom, is the captain of the Chatham Maroons Junior B team, and is committed to play NCAA hockey for Mercyhurst University.
Annually one of the GOJHL’s leading scorers, Verboom has been named to the league’s All-Star game and has won multiple monthly offensive honours, as well as being named last year’s Top Defensive Forward for the GOJHL’s Western Conference.
In his third season with the Chatham Maroons, Verboom is a West Elgin Secondary School graduate, and is also an alumni of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones ‘AAA’ organization.
Below are Michael Verboom’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:
1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?
Being a part of the Chatham Maroons.
2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?
Favourite team is Toronto Maple Leafs. Favorite player is Sidney Crosby, he’s just too good.
3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?
To play in the NHL. I’ve been dreaming about it since I was a kid.
4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?
My parents. Without them I would never have had the opportunity to play hockey. They’ve been there supporting me since day one.
5. What do you love most about playing sports?
I love being a part of a team. I mean the guys really are a family, and the relationships we make here at the rink really do last a lifetime.
