RunCK Lauches, First Race This Weekend
Chatham-Kent’s new RunCK Race Series was launched this past week, with the goal of organizing runners across the Municipality, and getting the community moving.
According to Chair Angelo Ligori, the new race series will increase awareness of Chatham-Kent’s running events, and hopefully get more people involved.
“RunCK will unify our community by bringing a higher awareness of the running events we have,” says Ligori. “We will increase participation by bringing all of the coordinators together to share best practices on how to hold a race. We will encourage participation of walkers, kids dashers and volunteers.”
The first run in the Race Series is this weekend, with the Chilly Run taking place January 26, in Chatham, in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
While most events will aim to help community organizations, Ligori also says there is a benefit for the runners themselves, who will have the chance to earn points, and win awards over the season.
“We will recognize achievement and provide information on how to stay sustain a life of fitness through walking and jogging,” says Ligori about what runners can expect from the events.
