Snow Whites Out Schedules

snowbankAfter several cancellations slowed the New Year’s sporting schedule Monday, the blowing snow across Chatham-Kent and Southwestern Ontario completely whited out the schedule Tuesday.

With the cancellation of buses and all schools in Chatham-Kent, seven boys basketball games were cancelled for Tuesday night, and one girls curling match was also stroked off the calendar.

In the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League, the Wallaceburg Lakers game, where the team was to visit the Essex 73s was also postponed due to poor driving conditions. The Major Peewee Chatham-Kent Cyclones were also scheduled to host the Lambton Jr. Sting at Memorial Arena Tuesday, another hockey game that was forced to be rescheduled.

The CK Special Olympics Bowling and all leagues at Chatham’s Bowlerama were forced to take the night off, as were several area swim teams and gymnastics organizations, who also announced their practices and classes were cancelled.

Chatham-Kent officials were still attempting to keep roads open Tuesday, and with buses again cancelled at area school, more cancellations were expected Wednesday.
