Wallaceburg Hall Names Permanent Inductees
Following a successful NCAA lacrosse career, Brad MacArthur was selected fifth overall in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) draft in 1999. MacArthur played seven professional seasons with Rochester, Montreal, Toronto, and Calgary, where he won an NLL championship. MacArthur now coaches Junior B lacrosse, and will also be a part of Israel’s lacrosse coaching staff.
Lori DeBakker starred for the St. Clair College Saints in the late 1980’s. In her two seasons, DeBakker was team captain in each campaign, and won the team MVP, and Coaches Award honours. A member of the OCAA All-Millennium Team, DeBakker helped St. Clai College to provincial silver medals in each season she played.
Gail Cook has been an invaluable volunteer for the Wallaceburg Lakers for 18-years. Cook has served on the Wallaceburg Lakers executive in many capacities over the years, and currently does the team’s media relations. She also works to secure sponsors, and is a dedicated fundraiser for the team.
Barry McFadden was a minor hockey, and Junior hockey official in Wallaceburg for 20-years. He officiated at many levels, including locally in Junior B hockey.
Finally, the 1995 Wallaceburg District Secondary School Sr. Girls Volleyball team will enter in the team category. The volleyball team were Kent Champions, and won the OFSAA ‘AA’ gold medal, being the only OFSAA gold medal winner for any Wallaceburg Tartans girls team.
Tickets for the January 25 event are available at Kim Murrary Insurance in Wallaceburg. The ceremony will take place at the Wallaceburg UAW Hall.
