Atom Wildcats Claw To Gold
In their opening game, the Wildcats played to a 27-25 win over the Barrie Royals. Ferrah Blackbird was the team’s top scorer at the tournament, and kicked things off with 12-points against Barrie. Piper Phaneuf added four, while Abby Stokes, Emma Patterson, and Olivia Roesch each had 2-points.
Game two saw the Chatham-Kent Wildcats put up a 28-19 decision over the Oakville Venom. Blackbird again paced her team scoring 10, while Stokes had 4, and Lainie Scott, Patterson, and Erin O’Neill each had 2-points.
Facing the Flamborough Fire in their final round robin game, Chatham-Kent posted a dominant 31-12 win. Blackbird scored 9-points, Patterson had 6, and Roesch and Adele Colverwell each scored 4-points.
In the semi-final, Chatham-Kent was again dominant on both sides of the ball, winning 42-14 over the Orangeville Hawks. Blackbird hit 14-points, while Alexis Carrington, Stokes, O’Neill, and Patterson each had 4-points.
In the final, the Wildcats faced the Barrie Royals again, this time coming away with a 31-22 win and the gold medal. Abby Stokes had an impressive game, scoring 12-points, while Blackbird had 9, and Emma Patterson scored 3-points.
