The Chatham-Kent Wildcats Minor Atom girls basketball team captured gold this past weekend at the Niagara Rangers War of 1812 Basketball Tournament. Olivia Lozon was the team’s leading scorer in each game, averaging 14-points over the weekend.

In their opening game, Chatham-Kent beat the Flamborough Fire 41-22. After Lozon’s 14-points, the Wildcats received contributions from a number of players, including Macey Dziadura with 5, and six other players who each had at least 3 points.

Game two, which served as the tournament’s semi-final, Chatham-Kent handed the Scarborough Blues a 32-23 defeat. Lozon had 12-points, while Mackenzie Beselaere and Ella Matesic each had 4-points.

The final saw the Chatham-Kent Wildcats come up against the host Niagara Rangers. It would turn out to be a tough battle, but the Wildcats claimed the tournament title with a 31-29 win. Lozon scored a tournament high 16-points, while Niveen Tekhli and Diana Lucarelli each had 4-points.
