UCC Lancers Win Kent Girls Hockey Crown

The UCC Lancers were the Kent Girls Hockey League’s top team from start to finish, capturing the Kent hockey crown Thursday in a 3-2 win over the Lambton-Kent Cardinals.

Lauren Nicholson, who plays club hockey for the Chatham Outlaws Midget ‘AA’ team scored twice for the UCC Lancers, leading her team to the win.

Taylor Smith scored the other Lancers goal. UCC took the 3-2 lead into the third period, holding off LKCS, who were trying to match the Kent title their school’s boys team won a day prior.

Zoe Ellis and Ally Daly scored for the Lambton-Kent Cardinals in the loss.

Both teams will now advance to challenge for SWOSSAA titles next week.
