Gardiner was selected in the 11th round by the Ottawa 67s, 203rd overall.

“I am honoured to be selected by the Ottawa 67s,” said Gardiner. “It’s a great organization and I’m looking forward to getting started with them. When I saw my name I was very excited and proud to be a part of such a great organization in a great city.”

Standing 6′, Gardiner had 6 goals and 6 assists for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team in the Alliance regular season, before stepping up his game in the postseason, scoring 3 goals and adding 12 assists for the Cyclones in 18 games.

A centerman, Gardiner also spent time in the Sun County Panthers organization in the past.

In 2013, Clachan’s Travis Konecny, a Chatham-Kent Cyclones alumni, was the Ottawa 67s first pick, first overall in the OHL Draft. Konecny went on to lead the 67s in scoring, and was the OHL’s top rookie scorer, and the OHL Rookie of the Year.
