Allin Adapting Well To Life In Australia
Playing for the Southern Peninsula Sharks, Allin had an excellent weekend May 10 and 11, scoring 18-points and adding 10-rebounds in a 56-50 loss to the Chelsea Gulls. He also added 17-points and 16-rebounds in a 71-56 win over the Warrandyte Venom. According to Allin, and his stats, the adjustment has been an enjoyable one from the North American culture and style.
“I absolutely love it over here,” says Allin. “Australia is an amazing country filled with friendly people, very similar to Canadians. Such an easy transition for me, with no culture shock whatsoever. I’m really enjoying my time over here, my teammates are a great bunch of guys, our coach is extremely knowledgeable and an awesome coach.”
Allin had his best game of the season April 26 scoring 20-points, and adding 14-rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals in an 88-60 Southern Peninsula win over the Warrandyte Venom in late April. His performance however, has been consistent throughout the season as he was named the Male Performer of Round 2, Round 6, and Round 8 in BigV Division I play.
Allin currently sits in the top 20 in league scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game with the Sharks. Allin also currently sits 15th in average rebounds, collecting 9.4 per game.
With the season well underway, Allin says he’s adjusted to the level of play, and is happy with the competition he’s found overseas.
“Competition is high, very good basketball,” described Allin of the BigV. “The state of Victoria is known for being the best at basketball. Took me a few games to adjust to the style of play over here. Fitting in great, looking forward to having a very strong finish to our season.”
The Southern Peninsula Sharks are currently second overall in the BigV with a 7-2 record.
