Havoc Open Season With Win
Playing again in the Niagara Rugby Union’s “B” Division, the Kent Havoc Men’s Rugby team started their 2014 campaign with a win, picking up where they left off after a successful season last year.
The Havoc, who spent most of last season in first in the Niagara Rugby Union B division opened 2014 with a 25-10 win over the Hamilton Hornets.
Ryan Pietens led the way for the Havoc scoring two tries in the win, while Matt Waddick and Tyler Gawley each had one.
Jared Foster kicked a convert and a penalty kick for Kent to round out the scoring.
Ryan Pietens was also named man of the match for the Havoc.
On the women’s side, the Kent Havoc women’s team was also scheduled to play Hamilton, however the game was cancelled due to a lack of players.
The Kent Men also won their opening exhibition game this year, beating Stratford 11-5. They will be back in action for their home opener Saturday, May 31 against the Niagara Wasps at 1:30pm at Victoria Park in Chatham.
