Wallaceburg Sting Win WOSL Opener
The Wallaceburg Sting men’s soccer team kicked-off the 2014 First Division season with a 4-3 victory over the London White Eagles.
Wallaceburg’s Phil Nywening opened the first half scoring that saw both team’s trade a pair of goals.
After being tied 2-2 at the half, the game entered the final few minutes knotted at 3 goals apiece. With two minutes to play, the Sting’s, Mike Foster, darted for a loose ball in the White Eagles goal crease and found the back of the net to give Wallaceburg the 4-3 lead.
Also scoring for the Sting, were Mike’s brother, Mark Foster and Ryan Nowakowski.
The Sting next play Wednesday, May 14th in Sarnia at 6:30 PM. Their next home game will be Wednesday, May 21st vs. Tillsonburg. The game will not be played at their typical home field of Kinsmen Park, but rather, under the lights of Steinoff Park for an 8:30 PM start.
Chatham has a team in the Premier League, Second Division and Third Division, but none were in action in the opening week. Chatham’s Premier entry opens the season May 10 in St. Thomas.
