Brandon Montour Selected In NHL Draft By The Anaheim Ducks
Montour was selected 55th overall, in the second round of Saturday’s NHL Draft.
Montour starred last season for the USHL’s Waterloo Black Hawks, where he had 14 goals and 48 assists for 62 points in 60 regular season games as a defenseman and continued that output in the playoffs, helping his Waterloo Black Hawks to a Clark Cup playoff final, where they fell to the Indiana Ice in five games. Montour topped all USHL scorers in the playoffs with 16 points in 12 games.
In the process, Montour, who is committed to attend the University of Massachusetts next Fall where he’ll play NCAA Division I hockey, was named the USHL’s Player of the Year and Defenseman of the Year.
Ranked 92nd in Central Scouting’s final draft ranking, Montour climbed the charts in the eyes of NHL scouts all season.
