The Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent helped to sponsor Tegan Williams to fulfill her hope of going to Northern Uganda.

Williams will be travelling with a group of Canadian rugby players and coaches to help the organization Gainline Africa execute their programs over a period of two weeks. She will provide hands-on support to their Ugandan partners and act as a mentor and coach to the secondary students through value-based rugby training.

Williams, a Blenheim, Ontario product, competed last season with the OUA’s Wester University Mustangs women’s rugby team.

Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent is a non profit organization that helps to advance the status of women worldwide. Tegan approached the club because our mandate is to help improve the lives of women and child locally and worldwide. Not only was Tegan responsible to raise funds for her travelling, she first had to raise $1000.00 for Gainline Africa.

During her two weeks there, Williams will be teaching high school and university students, be at a prison for 3 days and an orphanage for a day. Williams is departed for Africa on Friday, heading to teach the “Elephants” Rugby Team.
