Maple City Hosting Jr. Girls Provincials
Chatham’s Maple City Country Club will host the Golf Association of Ontario’s 2014 Ontario Junior Girls Golf Championships.
The tournament, which will feature Ontario’s best Under-19 girls golfers, will take place at Maple City July 15-19.
“I think we have strong clubs lined up for 2014,” said Director of Rules and Competitions Dave Colling in a press release earlier this year regarding the release of the GAO’s 2014 schedule.
Maple City Country Club will host the Ontario junior girls golf championship July 15-18.
Maple City is the only local club hosting a GAO event this year, although other clubs will again participate in the Jamieson Junior Golf Tour. This is the first Provincial or National competition hosted at Maple City since 1999.
In 2013, local golfers MacKenzie Butzer and Austin Kelly put in strong GAO performances, with Butzer finishing 4th, and Kelly finishing 2nd at the Golf Association of Ontario Men’s and Women’s Champion of Champions tournament in May. Butzer followed up that performance by finishing 16th at the Ontario Junior Girls Championships.
