Maroons Gearing Up For 2014-2015 Season
Memorial Arena in Chatham will be buzzing with prospects and fans beginning August 16 and 17 from 10am to 2pm, and August 19 from 7-9pm as the Maroons open their main camp.
Chatham will then host a preseason game August 22 at Memorial, before their annual Maroon and White game August 24 at 7pm at Memorial Arena.
Chatham will have several familiar faces in camp as veteran forwards Michael Verboom, Alex Morgan, Trevor Richardson, and Brayden Hopkins, among others, will all be back up front for the Maroons. On the back end, Steven Szekesy and Nate Pietens are expected to anchor the Chatham defense.
In net, Chatham could be looking at a wide open competition for the starting position, as Jacob Keogh has moved on to University hockey, and Brendan Johnston is expected to stick with the Windsor Spitfires.
Chatham will have open spots to fill, as Kyle Brothers, Charlie Izaguirre, and Adam Arseneault have graduated up front, with James McEwan and Hayden Verbeek in OHL camps, and potentially not returning as well. On the blueline, Tanner Ferguson is gone due to age, and Blayne Oliver has signed with the OJHL’s Junior A Trenton Golden Hawks.
Chatham finished third in the GOJHL’s Western Conference last season with a 31-15-3 record. Chatham advanced to the Western Conference final before being eliminated by Leamington.
CKSN will have complete updates regarding roster moves in the coming weeks.
