Mike Zottl, who spent the 2013-2014 season with the Wallaceburg Lakers, has signed with the GOJHL’s Lambton Shores Predators Junior B team.

““I’m very excited to be joining the Lambton Shores Predators and I’m anxious to get started playing at the Junior B level this season,” says Zottl.

“It feels great to know that hard work pays off and that it can lead to playing at a higher level.”

Zottl, a six-foot-two defenseman played 39 games for the Lakers last season, finishing his rookie Great Lakes Junior C season, in which he was the Lakers’ 16-year-old underage player, with 4 assists in 39 games.

“I had the opportunity to play Junior C for the Wallaceburg Lakers as their 16-year-old last season and their coaching staff and GM were great to me and really helped me develop my game,” said Zottl about his time in Wallaceburg.

Prior to signing with the Wallaceburg Lakers, Zottl played for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team where he was a 13th round selection in the OHL Priority Draft by the Mississauga Steelheads.

A Sarnia resident, Zottl and the Lambton Shores Predators will open their 2014-2015 season September 13, hosting the Strathroy Rockets. He’s looking forward to hitting the ice for the regular season, and continuing to grow as a player.

“My personal goals for the season are to be a consistent, reliable, steady defenseman so the coaches can feel confident they can put me out in any situation. I’m looking forward to this opportunity and being able to contribute to the success of the team.”

Zottl is the second Chatham-Kent Cyclones alumni to sign with the Lambton Shores Predators this season, as Chatham’s Drew Marlatt, who was acquired by the Predators from the Chatham Maroons, also signed with the team recently.
