After making his NHL preseason debut on the Boston Bruins’ top line earlier in the week, Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith started producing like a top line player Friday night.

Griffith, skating in his second game with Boston, scored a pair of goals for the Bruins in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Washington Capitals.

To open the second period, Griffith took a cross crease feed from Jordan Caron and buried his first goal of the preseason.

Only minutes later, Griffith scored his second of the game, with assists going to Jordan Caron and David Warsofsky. Griffith’s second goal kept him on pace with Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin, who also had two goals in the game.

“I think Soderberg and Caron made some nice passes to me,” said Griffith in a Bruins news release about linemates Carl Soderberg and Jordan Caron after the game. “I didn’t have to do too much, so a lot of credit goes to them.”

“I think I’ve been getting better. You know, this is only my second preseason game, but I thought I played better than I did at home the other night, so I just want to keep getting better and showing what I have,” continued Griffith.

The Bruins now face the Detroit Red Wings, in Detroit, Saturday, September 27.
