Hawks Dominant In Tournament Win
The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks Junior Girls basketball team were dominant this weekend in their season opening tournament in Georgetown, Ontario. The Hawks, who defeated Centennial 63-19 in the final, won the tournament for the second straight year.
“The girls played so well together,” says coach Jess Rowden. “Great tournament by all the girls. Coaches definitely proud of all of them and how well they played together.”
The CKSS Golden Hawks opened the tournament with a win over Christ the King 48-8, and then, after leading by only 4-points at the half, powered past Georgetown 52-25.
In the semi-final, the Hawks beat Bluevale before crushing Centennial in the final.
Jessica Jordan scored 16-points, leading all scorers in the final, and finished with 33-points in the tournament. Mattea Deleary had 12-, while Brooke MacKinnon and Lauren Ball each had 11-points in the final.
MacKinnon was the Hawks’ top scorer in the tournament with 48 total points, followed by Ball with 41, and Jordan with 33.
