The Dresden Kings held off the Wallaceburg Lakers to reign over their home ice, and pick up a 4-2 win Friday night in Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League action.

In the opening period, Blake Padbury and Derek Daly scored for the Kings.

Wallaceburg would get on the board in period two, as Matt Clark scored an unassisted marker. Last season, Clark won an OMHA Juvenile title as a member of the Ridgetown-Blenheim Chiefs.

Kings captain Jim McKinlay however, wouldn’t let the Lakers continue their comeback. He opened the third period with a powerplay goal, with assists going to Taylor Sisson and Ross Krieger. Sisson would finish the game with three assists, while McKinlay had a goal and two assists.

After Matt Clark scored his second of the game to again pull the Lakers within one goal, Graham Smyth scored for Dresden on the empty net to secure the victory.

Dresden is back on the ice immediately, as they travel to face the Wheatley Sharks Saturday. Wallaceburg is off until Wednesday when they host the Blenheim Blades.
