KMHA Selected For The First Shift Program
The Kent Minor Hockey Association have been selected by Hockey Canada and Bauer to participate in a program called “The First Shift” for the 2014-2015 season.
Designed to ease kids and their families into the sport of hockey in a fun and friendly environment, The First Shift is a program the Kent Minor Hockey Association is excited to see taking place in Chatham-Kent.
“We begin with a Welcome Event, offering information and activities to help build kids’ confidence and make them, and their parents, more comfortable in the hockey environment,” explains KMHA executive member Derek Fitzmorris. “The focus for the on ice sessions is fun, teaching kids basic skating and fundamental hockey skills through play.”
The First Shift program is open to boys and girls, ages 6-10 who have never registered in hockey before. The registration fee is $199 and includes:
- Welcome Session- information, education & equipment fit session
- 6 on ice sessions (there will also be an additional 6 on ice sessions as well), one per week on the same day, at the same time to make it convenient for parents to schedule
- Head to toe hockey equipment
The program, including the on ice sessions are scheduled to begin October 20, with the second session, which is being offered at no charge for those enrolled this Fall, starting in January.
