Wolverines Finish Fourth

The Western Counties Wolverines Minor Bantams had an outstanding weekend at the OBA “AAA” tournament in Burlington, Ontario, finishing fourth in the province.

The team defeated the Vaughn Vikings 8-4 in game #1 and the Windsor Stars 2-1 in game #2. This earned the team a bye in round 3. The Wolverines then faced the two time defending champs, Mississauga Tigers, on Saturday evening. The Wolverines built up a 5-1 lead after 5 innings, but could not finish the talented Tigers off. Mississauga came back to win 6-5. The team then faced the North York Blues in the semi-finals Sunday morning but lost 5-2. Overall, the Wolverines finished an impressive 4th place out the field of 12 teams. In the championship game, the Mississauga Tigers mercied North York 14-4 to repeat as OBA champs for the third straight year.
