Delainey Johnson Leads CKSS’ OFSAA Qualifiers

Delainey Johnson had the race of her life Wednesday as a part of the Chatham-Kent Secondary School cross country team.

After winning LKSSAA last week, Delainey Johnson, a grade 9, captured the SWOSSAA title, winning her midget girls 3km race in a time of 11:12, 25 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Chloe Walker of Vincent Massey.

At the senior boys level, CKSS runners Quinn Cannella and Josh Kellier also qualified for OFSAA. Cannella ran the 7km senior boys race in 22:58, finishing second, 15 seconds ahead of teammate Josh Kellier, who also qualified for OFSAA, finishing 5th with a time of 23:13.

Ally Oulds was the fourth Chatham-Kent runner to qualify for OFSAA. Oulds, a grade 10 runner competing up a level against grade 11 and 12 competition finished 4th in the SWOSSAA race, completing the 5km course in 19:47. Her teammate, Sydnye Gagner narrowly missed an OFSAA berth, finishing 9th.

CKSS’ four OFSAA qualifiers will compete at the 2014 OFSAA cross country championships in Waterloo, Ontario, November 1.
