Hawks Soar At Pre-OFSAA Cross Country
Delainey Johnson, running in the midget girls division, which featured 424 runners, finished 3rd overall, completing the 3km race in 11:44.4. CKSS’ Johnson was the top Chatham-Kent finisher and will be a favourite at the upcoming LKSSAA meet, but will face tough competition in Northern’s Caroline Forbes, who won Wednesday’s midget girl race.
Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks runner Maia Collins also finished well in the Midget Girls race, crossing the line in 97th.
In the senior boys race, Quinn Cannella finished 9th out of 739 runners, completing the 7km race in 22:51.6. His typical local competition, Josh Kellier, didn’t run in the race, but will compete at next week’s LKSSAA championships.
The CKSS Senior girls team of Sydnye Gagner, Ally Oulds, Miah St. Pierre, and Tess Scaman finished 7th overall, with Gagner crossing the line in 42nd out of 581 runners, and Oulds finishing 69th.
