Seth Griffith was great. That’s the easy description of the Wallaceburg, Ontario native’s performance Tuesday night for the Boston Bruins.

Playing in his rookie NHL season, and only seventh NHL game, Seth Griffith had a breakout night scoring two goals and adding an assist for the Boston Bruins in a 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild. Boston was up 3-1 on Griffith’s three points heading into the third, but couldn’t hold on for the win.

Griffith’s first goal, scored at 18:23 of the first came off a great feed from linemate David Krejci, with Milan Lucic also picking up an assist.

His second goal, with Lucic and Gregory Campbell assisting, was reminiscent of Bobby Orr’s famous Stanley Cup winning goal for the Bruins, as Griffith flew through the air as he chipped in a crease crossing pass.

Later in the second frame, Griffith picked up a powerplay assist on a goal by Lucic. Griffith also received a 2-minute penalty in the third period for goaltender interference.

In 7 NHL games, Seth Griffith now has 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points.

Boston will travel to play the Buffalo Sabres Thursday.
