The Amherstburg Admirals put an end to the Wallaceburg Lakers home ice winning streak Wednesday night, handing the Lakers an 8-3 loss, and snapping their 4 game win streak at home.

Amherstburg wasted no time taking over the game scoring four unanswered goals in the opening period with Mark Gagnon, James Brooks, Steven Spada, and Marshal Laing all finding the back of the net.

Cole Martyniuk made it 5-0 to open the second period before the Lakers finally got on the board on a Jeff Brown powerplay marker. Wallaceburg‘s powerplay was hot in the game, with each of their three goals coming with the man advantage.

After Luke Gagnon regained Amherstburg’s 5-goal lead, Wallaceburg’s Mike Kindrachuk scored on the powerplay to make the score 6-2, but Chad Copeland would add another for the Admirals before the period was out.

In the third period, Mark Gagnon scored goal number 8 for the Amherstburg Admirals before the Lakers’ third powerplay goal of the game, which came off the stick of Trevor Waller.

The Wallaceburg Lakers outshot the Amherstburg Admirals 27-23 in the game, but couldn’t keep the puck out of their own net.

Wallaceburg is back in action this Saturday as they travel to face the Mooretown Flags, before hosting the Blenheim Blades in Wallaceburg next Wednesday.
