Bantam Kent Cobras Win St. Thomas AE Tournament
Opening their tournament against the Clarington Toros, Kent dropped a close contest 4-2, including an empty net goal.
Ryley Hulme and Brett Graves had the Kent Cobras goals, while Jacob DeForest picked up two assists, and Andrew Park and Evan Rae also had helpers.
After facing adversity in their opening game, Kent bounced back in their second game of the tournament beating the Owen Sound Jr. Attack team 3-2.
Scoring for Kent was shared by Ryan Baker, Matthew Roberts and Jacob DeForest, with assists going to Jacob DeForest, Ryan Baker, Kyle Swis, and Brenden Bellan
In their third round robin game, the scoring flood gates opened for the Cobras, who defeated the Southpoint Stars 12-0. Kyle Swis scored an incredible five goals in the game, while Jacob DeForest also had a hat trick. Ryley Hulme, Brett Graves, Brenden Bellan, and Carter McArthur had singles in the win. Ryan Baker had a five point game of his own, picking up five assists, while Jacob Reid had three helpers, and Andrew Park, Carter McArthur, Brendyn Mardling, and Brett Graves each had a pair.
Again facing the Clarington Toros in the final, the Cobras were out for revenge. Brett Graves opened the goal in the middle of the second period, only to have the Toros comeback and score the tying goal in the middle of the third period forcing the game into OT.
There were no goals scored in the first five minute sudden victory overtime. Then, with 3:47 left in the second five minute OT, Kyle Swis scored the winning goal, lifting the Bantam AE Kent Cobras to tournament title. Noah Legary posted the win making 24 saves in the game.
