It didn’t take long for Chatham Ryan Jones to find a team for the 2014-2015 season as Jones has signed in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) with the Cologne Sharks.

“Ryan Jones is a fighter who goes on the ice to where it hurts to score goals and brings a lot of experience with (him). He is a player who will help us,” said Sharks coach Niklas Sundblad.

The DEL is Germany’s top professional hockey league, and considered one of the better professional leagues in Europe. Last season, the Cologne Sharks, known as Kolner Haie in Germany, lost in the DEL final.

Jones started the season with the AHL’s Utica Comets, but was released from his professional tryout after five games.

Last season Ryan Jones played 52 games with the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers scoring 2 goals and adding 4 assists. In 334 career NHL games, Jones has collected 54 goals and 46 assists for a total of 100 points.
