Hawks Win Battle Of Unbeatens

The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks, and John McGregor Panthers senior boys basketball teams both entered Thursday night’s LKSSAA basketball action with perfect 3-0 records.

Only the CKSS Golden Hawks however, ended the night with a perfect record as they improved to 4-0 with a 40-32 victory over JMSS.

Fifth year forward Ian Smart scored 14-points to lead the Golden Hawks to the win, while Marley Blommers, who is in grade 11 added 12-points. Joel Barwick, who is also in his fifth year at CKSS chipped in with 6-points.

In the losing effort, Donovan List scored 12-points for the John McGregor Panthers. Jake Anderson had 11, whie Keyshaun Jordan had 5 for JMSS.

McGregor still sits atop the ‘AA’ division of the senior boys league, while CKSS is in first in the ‘AAA-AAAA’ league. CKSS and JMSS each play a pair of games next week leading up to the break.
