If Travis Konecny entered as the 26th ranked North American skater for the upcoming NHL draft, he left Thursday’s BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects game much higher.

Konecny topped all scorers, and was named the game’s first star after scoring twice and adding an assists in Team Orr’s 6-0 win over Team Cherry.

In the first period, the Chatham-Kent Cyclones product from Clachan, assisted on a goal by Timo Meier. Also assisting on the goal was Konecny’s linemate in the game, Connor McDavid, who is the top ranked prospect in the world for the upcoming NHL draft.

After a scoreless second period, Konecny scored a pair of goals in the third period to secure the win for Team Orr.

Konecny is the captain of the OHL’s Ottawa 67s and had 41 points through his first 42 games this season.

The NHL Draft will take place June 26 and 27 in Sunrise, Florida.
