Former Chatham-Kent Cyclones defenseman Kody Gagnon is getting something he struggled to find during the first half of the season, playing time.

The young defender cracked the OHL’s Barrie Colts out of training camp, making the huge jump from Junior C to Major Junior.

After playing 10 games in the OHL with the Barrie Colts, and staying with the team until mid-January, the Colts however decided to find Gagnon the playing time he needed to continue his development, sending him to the OJHL to play Junior A hockey with the Toronto Patriots.

Gagnon had signed with the Patriots in the offseason, prior to making the Colts’ roster, and since mid-January, has played 7 games with the team, collecting an assist.

Gagnon, who played in Chatham in his Bantam years, had played 35 games last season in the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League with the Belle River Canadiens, scoring 9 goals and 12 assists totalling 21 points as a 16-year-old rookie. The six-foot-two defender added 11 points in 19 playoff games for the Canadiens.
