The LKSSAA girls hockey regular season came to a close Wednesday in Chatham as the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks shutout the Lambton-Kent Cardinals 4-0.

Ray Spotton opened the scoring in the first period, finishing a passing play in the slot from Olivia Henry and Shayna Daly.

Ryanne Logan was next to find the scoresheet, sliding one under Dresden netminder Tori Winters, with assists going to Sydney Sabourin and Maia Collins.

In the second period, CKSS continued to control the play. Shayna Daly walked in early in the frame and roofed a shot off the crossbar and in, with Henry picking up her second assist of the game on the goal.

Sydney Sabourin would close out the scoring in the period, deking out the Lambton-Kent defense before lifting a backhand top shelf.

CKSS finished second (5-3) in the LKSSAA South behind the UCC Lancers. They will travel to play Sarnia Northern next Tuesday at 2:30pm in Sarnia for the LKSSAA ‘AAA-AAAA’ semi-final. Lambton-Kent will travel to face North Lambton next week in the LKSSAA ‘A-AA’ semi-final.
