Hawks Tops In Senior Hoops

The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks captured the LKSSAA ‘AAA-AAAA’ championship title Saturday night defeating the Sarnia St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish 58-42.

The senior duo of Ian Smart and Joel Barwick controlled the court from start to finish. Smart had a team high 18-points and 17-rebounds.

Barwick had 17-points in the win, which will advance the Golden Hawks to face the WECSSAA champion next week.

Lee Kucera, another grade 12 also had a strong game for the CKSS Golden Hawks chipping in 11-points, while Marley Blommers had 6.

CKSS was first overall in the LKSSAA regular season standings finishing the year with a 9-1 record. CKSS defeated Chatham rival UCC 55-38 Wednesday with Smart picking up a team high 18-points to advance to the LKSSAA finals.
