Dresden’s Chris Clements will be back in action, fighting sooner than expected as he’s accepted an opening at UFC 186 at the Bell Centre in Montreal on April 25.

Clements will be one of two Chatham-Kent fighters competing that night, as Chatham’s Chad Laprise is also on the bill.

According to the UFC, Clements stepped in as an injury replacement after Claudia Silva was injured.

“A broken foot has forced Claudio Silva out of his UFC 186 bout with Nordine Taleb at Bell Centre on April 25. Stepping in to face Taleb in the welterweight bout will be Ontario veteran Chris Clements, who is fresh from a blistering first-round finish of Vik Grujic last November,” wrote the UFC.

Clements win over Vik Grujic in November, was his first UFC bout since September 2013, after which Clements had shoulder surgery. Clements won his November fight with a first round TKO at 3:06 on punches.

UFC 186 is headlined by the bantamweight championship between TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao, as well as the flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Kyoji Horiguchi.
