Former Chatham Maroons defender Connor Annett, who patrolled Chatham’s blueline this season, has committed to play NCAA hockey for the Neumann University Knights next season.

Annett, a Petrolia resident, is excited for the next stage in his playing career, and is thankful for his former Maroons coach Mark Davis, and Lambton Shores assistant coach, and Neumann alumni Doug Slipacoff.

“It feels amazing to be able to continue playing hockey for another four years at the next level,” says Annett. “Without Mark Davis and Doug Slipacoff none of this would have been possible. They deserve a lot of credit for all the work they’ve put in getting me ready for the next level.”

“Neumann was a good fit for me coming from a close knit community of Petrolia,” continued Annett regarding his choice of Neumann University. “Neumann has that small town atmosphere where everyone knows your name and your story.”

“I’m excited to get next year going. I have to put in a lot of work but I’m ready for the challenge. My parents and family have been amazing during this process with all their support.”

Annett has played with the Chatham Maroons for the past two seasons, and suited up with the GOJHL’s Lambton Shores Predators the two seasons prior. Last season, Annett had 4 goals and 23 assists for 27 points in 40 games.

Annett is familiar to the Chatham-Kent hockey community, as he also played ‘AAA’ with the Chatham-Kent Cyclones in 2009-2010.

Neumann University competes in NCAA Division III hockey in the ECAC West Conference.
