Christian Bechard Commits To Guelph
Bechard played an integral in helping the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks to two OFSAA gold medals and an antique bronze in ‘AAA’ volleyball.
“I have chosen the University of Guelph because of its great reputation on and off the court and also to further my studies in the Ag department because of its excellent reputation of developing future,” said Bechard in a University of Guelph press release.
“I am also looking forward to the opportunity to further develop my volleyball skills with a great program and become a valuable member of the Guelph Gryphons men’s volleyball team.”
Bechard, a six-foot-three outside hitter, joins the Guelph Gryphons roster as part of a five man 2015-2016 recruiting class.
Still working on a decision this season as to what school he’d attend, Bechard was pursued by Guelph at their annual high school tournament, which Bechard dominated at this season leading the CKSS Golden Hawks to a gold medal.
Bechard is also an accomplished badminton player, recently capturing the LKSSAA boys singles championship.
Guelph finished the 2014-2015 season with a 9-11 record. Their season begins each year in mid-October.
