After months of pushing, Chatham-Kent supporters and Trenton Golden Hawks fans pushed Blenheim’s Blayne Oliver to be the runner-up in the OJHL’s annual Fan Favourite balloting.

Oliver was second in voting for the Junior A league’s annual vote to forward Cole Bolton of the Kingston Voyageurs. Bolton is committed to Adrian College next season, the same team former Chatham Maroons Kyle Brothers and Jake Flegal skated for this season.

His support earned him a spot as an OJHL First Team All-Fan Favourite.

Oliver finished his OJHL season with 28 points in 54 games while serving as an assistant captain for Trenton.

He joined the Golden Hawks last season after playing two seasons with the Junior B Chatham Maroons, and previously with the ‘AAA’ Chatham-Kent Cyclones.

In total, four Trenton Golden Hawks were honoured on the OJHL’s First and Second Team All-Fan Favourites, including forward Brady Wiffen, who was also voted a First Team selection.

Fellow Golden Hawks defenders Braden Hellems and Braydyn Asselstine were second team selections.

Oliver plans to return to Trenton next season for his overage season.
