Chatham Athletes Shine At OFSAA

It was a shining weekend for Chatham track and field athletes at the 2015 OFSAA Track and Field Championships in Toronto. Shining both in performances, and the gold, silver, and bronze medals athletes brought home.

The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks led all area schools in the medal count, bringing home 2 gold, 1 silver, and a bronze.

Lee Kucera of CKSS threw multiple personal bests Saturday en route to capturing gold in the senior boys javelin. His final throw of 57.32m was more than 3m farther than the silver medallist.

CKSS’ Josh Kellier also won an OFSAA gold earlier in the event in the 2000m steeplechase.

Golden Hawks grade 9 Delainey Johnson ran to an OFSAA silver medal Saturday with a 10:09.16 time in the 3000m race.

Also from CKSS, grade 10 Ally Oulds won bronze with a time of 43.95s in the Junior girls 300m hurdles event. Oulds narrowly missed a second medal, finishing 5th in the 400m race.

From Chatham Christian, Carolyn Prins won a pair of medals, securing gold in midget girls triple jump with a jump of 11.27m, and silver in the long jump, leaping 5.49m.

Finally, John McGregor’s Anthony Atkinson also medalled in the opening days of OFSAA, winning a silver medal in shot put with a throw of 16.54m.
