Wallaceburg’s Emma Gorski and Walpole Island’s Kaitlyn Isaac helped the West Coast Selects girls hockey team win gold this past weekend at the Ponytail Challenge in Vaughan, Ontario.

Gorski didn’t allow a goal in the first day of competition, backstopping her team to a 4-0 shutout win over the Regional Express Gold, and a 5-0 win over GTA.

Splitting the netminding duties with her goaltending partner on Saturday, Gorski still did not allow a shot past her in a win against East Coast Selects and a tie against Pro Hockey.

In the gold medal final, Gorski was finally solved, fighting to a 1-1 tie after regulation. After playing two scoreless overtime periods, Gorski stopped each East Coast Selects shooter in a shootout, helping her team win gold.

Gorski received the MVP of the championship game.

Isaac also proved to be an asset to the West Coast Selects team over the weekend, having a strong performance in each game.

Gorski is slated to play for the Midget ‘AA’ Chatham Outlaws next season, and will attend Chatham-Kent Secondary School, while Isaac will play Midget ‘AA’ for the Sarnia Lady Sting, and will attend Wallaceburg District Secondary School.
